Sulzer
Stork-Werkspoor
Wartsila
Yanmar
WH Allen

On the rare occasion that we do not have sufficient data to manufacture a replacement unit, one of our experienced field engineers can be despatched to the vessel, wherever it may be, in order to carry out a site survey.

Feedback from our marine clients leads us to believe that significant fuel savings can be made by fitting our air-coolers, resulting in payback within a matter of weeks. But why? ElfinBlock fins are both flat and consistent. With CNC fin placement to within a few microns, stacked rows align better to reduce pressure drop. Superior performance combined with the ability to incorporate advanced vortex generation in the airflow allows greater spacing between fins. These attributes combine to reduce performance-degrading fouling issues. Our ability to use harder tempered fin materials also means that should fouling occur, the fined core can be pressure washed without causing damage and further performance degradation.

Power Generation, Petrochemical & Offshore Applications

The organisation’s patents and developments leads to extremely comprehensive material choice, which is of particular benefit to these industries where longevity, corrosion/erosion resistance and safety are of paramount importance:

Chemical resistance - virtually any material can be supplied, including titanium, nickel alloys or even ceramics. This extends to charge air products which can also be manufactured using equally resistant materials for both the tubes and fins.

Enhanced longevity - tubeplates and tube-ends can be coated or clad, either explosively or by way of secondary facades and tube inserts/sleeves.

Leakage detection - finned double-wall leak-detection tubes can be used where leakage into the surrounding area would be catastrophic.

Leakage sealing - leaking tubes can be plugged using safe, non-destructive tube plugs made from polymer or co-polymer materials (available from stock).

One of the main advantages of using ElfinBlock in our charge air products is that the same construction method is employed regardless of the materials used and therefore can be achieved with minimal additional expense.

Compressor

With two of the world's top three compressor manufacturers being regular clients, the ACT Group has the experience and technology necessary for the design/development of leading edge solutions.

The flexibility of ElfinBlock makes it ideal for use in Compressor applications. Consider the possible issues associated with air dispersion, water separation and pressure drop over the core. With full CNC control of fin placement to within a few microns, the fin spacing can be varied over the length of the core and absolute positioning means stacked rows align better to minimise pressure drop. Combined with the ability to space fins at up to 40 fins per inch or more, this makes ElfinBlock the optimum choice for high velocity air applications. Our experience has proven that approach temperatures can be reduced by the introduction of ElfinBlock.

Fuel Cell Technology

Ultimate flexibility and choice, with ultra-fast prototyping. Virtually any material, shape, configuration. Prototype tooling in just a few short weeks (or just a few days for tool modification). What more could be needed on the bleeding edge of technology development?

Automotive Sport

Unlike traditional automotive core manufacturing techniques, the absence of heat during the ElfinBlock construction process prevents any softening of the components, resulting in a more robust construction. Thus, the use of hard-finished materials results in improved impact and vibration resistance. In addition to aluminium, the base tubes can also be of harder materials such as stainless steel or Titanium and with optional interspersed strengthening fins, ElfinBlock offers unparalleled levels of longevity and impact resistance for the most demanding automotive applications.
